Supported by an established Water business, strong project pipeline and national client relationships, you'll lead the development of AECOM's Coastal &amp; Maritime capability across Australia. What We're Looking For
We're interested in hearing from experienced coastal and maritime professionals who combine strong technical foundations with proven leadership and commercial capability.
You will likely bring:

<li>Proven experience (ideally 15 years' +) within coastal and maritime engineering, coastal processes, or a related consulting environment.</li>
<li>Demonstrated success building client relationships nationally to enable and drive growth. </li>
<li>Passion for mentoring and growing high-performing multidisciplinary teams.</li>
<li>A background in coastal, wave or hydrodynamic modelling, providing the technical credibility to lead specialist teams and advise clients, whilst operating as the strategic and client-facing lead..</li>

Maritime at KBR is growing and we currently have an opportunity for a Principal Maritime & Coastal Engineer to join our team. This is a fantastic opportunity for you to join one of the most talented and respected engineering teams in Australia. Working within our National Maritime Team, you will be involved with the design and planning activities for large scale multi-discipline maritime facilities for a variety of industries including; defence, local government, state government, ports, and sustainability (hydrogen terminals). You will apply your existing experience across these different industries and lead the technical delivery of new and interesting projects. You will be supported by and get to work with a range of other disciplines across KBR and other partners.

While you may know some of our more high-profile projects, such as the AUKUS nuclear powered submarine facility upgrades (HMAS Stirling, Perth), we do much more than just defence. Our team works on large-scale clean energy (Port Bonython Hydrogen Hub, Adelaide), boating infrastructure (Clump Point Boat Ramp, North Queensland), wharf and port infrastructure (Port of Brisbane, Wharf 11 & 12), and remediation of valuable public assets (Central Pier, Melbourne).

This role will see you leveraging your existing maritime & coastal engineering experience to deliver everything from concept designs through to construction phase support. While this is primarily a technical role, your experience in project management, design management and business development will also be useful.

Preference is for the successful candidate to be based in our KBR Fortitude Valley Queensland office; however other KBR office locations may be considered.

What Will You Do?

We are seeking a highly capable Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join our growing Water & Maritime team. You will play a key role in the delivery of civil, coastal and maritime projects across Australia and the Pacific. This is a technical and project-leading role with hands-on responsibility, client interaction and mentoring of junior staff.

Your responsibilities will include:

Oversee and deliver studies, engineering designs, modelling, analyses, calculations, drawings and engineering reports across civil, coastal and maritime projects for geotechnical discipline.Identify issues, risks and opportunities, providing innovative and practical geotechnical solutions.Plan and undertake geotechnical site investigations including borehole logging, test pits, ground characterisation and assessment of reactive/collapsing soils. The roles support our team for long-term investment across our WA Operation in terms of engineering innovation and advanced manufacturing including robotics.

About The OPPORTUNITY

We have new opportunities for Fabrication Apprentices to join our Hunter Class Frigate Program based at the Osborne Naval Shipyard — one of the most digitally advanced naval shipyards in the world.

We are now accepting applications for our 2027 apprenticeship program commencing in February. It’s an exciting time to join us and a great place to start a career in shipbuilding.

As a Fabrication Apprentice you will gain practical experience while rotating through the shipyard, and completing a Certificate III in Engineering – Fabrication Trade.

Responsibilities

This is a challenging and exciting opportunity which will develop your skills to become an extremely versatile fabrication tradesperson. Working in a state-of-the-art workshop or on the ship with a great team, your responsibilities will include:

Fabricating a variety of materials and learning different types of welding processesConstruction and development of all structural assemblies (hull to final fit out)Develop knowledge of fabrication codes and standardsApplying health and safety processes in the workplaceContributing to improving business culture with regards to people, process and systems

In your role as a Maritime Project Lead your project management and technical knowledge of ports and maritime projects will be of key importance. You will be capable of directing design and study teams on projects, developing, designing, and facilitating the documentation of complex ports and maritime solutions to exceed client expectations.    Your focus will be in the areas of project management, maritime infrastructure design, engaging with senior engineers and technical leaders, supporting junior members of the team, delivering outputs for small, medium and large multidisciplinary Ports and Maritime projects.    
You will be expected to work collaboratively with other members of the Maritime team, and the wider Jacobs team across multiple disciplines, including mentoring of less experienced staff. You will be involved in business development, contributing and leading the development of tender bids and marketing to external and internal clients. You will integrate into our ANZ Ports and Maritime team, supporting team initiatives and maintaining connectivity across the region and other geographies.
