The Role

We are seeking a part-time Project Accountant to join our Finance team, with flexible working hours available.

The Project Accountant is responsible for managing the financial transactions of the business, ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant regulations. This role includes managing accounts, performing reconciliations, and preparing financial reports. The Project Accountant works closely with internal teams and the General Manager - East Coast, to support financial operations and provide insights for decision-making.     

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage the end-to-end invoicing process, ensuring accurate and timely billing.

  • Maintain accurate records of creditors and debtors, following up on outstanding payments as needed.

  • Perform regular bank reconciliations to ensure accuracy of financial records.

  • Support month-end financial close processes, including journal entries and financial adjustments.

  • Reconcile general ledger accounts, including balance sheet reconciliations, to maintain financial accuracy.

  • Investigate and resolve discrepancies in financial transactions.

  • Prepare and analyse financial reports, including debtors and work-in-progress (WIP) reports.

  • Assist in forecasting cash flow and financial planning.

  •  Assist in budget preparation.

  • Manage the setup and maintenance of client and supplier records within the system.

  •  Ensure compliance with relevant tax, superannuation, and employment laws.

  • Other duties as required.

Required Qualifications

  • Diploma or Certificate in Accounting, Bookkeeping, or a related field (preferred).

  • Experience in a bookkeeping, payroll, or accounts administration role.

  • Familiarity with Australian tax, payroll, and financial regulations.

Skills and Experience

  • Intermediate to advanced level in the use of Microsoft Excel and accounting software.

  • Well-developed organisational and time management skills.

  •  Ability to meet deadlines, work with minimal supervision, determine priorities and act accordingly.

  • 8-12 years experience.

  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills.

  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team.

  • Motivated, dynamic and energetic with a passion for exceeding expectations.

  • Flexibility and creativity to bounce in a continually changing environment.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of financial and employee information.
