Our client is a well-regarded Australian electrical engineering and manufacturing business with a strong national reputation. They design and manufacture complex custom electrical products for clients across infrastructure, commercial and industrial sectors. Everything is handled in-house from engineering design through to fabrication, assembly and factory testing.
The roleReporting to the Operations Manager, the Project Manager will be the central point of contact between clients, engineering, procurement and production, owning projects from the moment an order lands through to final delivery and handover. This is not a coordination role. You will have full accountability for scope, schedule, budget and quality across your project portfolio.
Day to day you will beReviewing contracts, tender documentation and client specifications at project handover
Creating and managing project schedules in collaboration with engineering and operations
Handing over to the design team and supporting engineers through the detailed design phase
Overseeing and reviewing detailed engineering design prior to client submission
Creating and issuing ITPs and ITTPs, performing peer reviews of drawings
Managing procurement of equipment to ensure best price, best product and timely delivery to the manufacturing floor
Handing over project packs to the workshop manager and team leaders
Monitoring projects as they move through the factory, liaising with production staff
Submitting RFIs, EOTs, NODs and variations in line with contract clauses and timelines
Coordinating FAT and SAT activities and supporting commissioning
Forecasting and reporting on project status, costings and variances to management
Presenting work status at weekly operations meetings
Essential
Proven experience as a Project Manager in a switchboard manufacturing, OEM or industrial electrical environment
Strong technical understanding of LV switchboards, MCCs and power distribution systems
Solid knowledge of AS/NZS 61439 and relevant Australian standards
Experience managing full project lifecycles including contracts, schedules, procurement, production and delivery
Comfortable with contract administration including RFIs, EOTs, NODs and variations
Strong client-facing and stakeholder communication skills
Commercially aware with the ability to manage budgets, costings and risk
Full working rights in Australia
Desirable
Electrical engineering background or trade qualification
Familiarity with Siemens Sivacon switchboard product range
Experience with ERP or job costing systems in a manufacturing environment
Exposure to FAT, SAT and commissioning processes
Full project ownership across a varied and technically complex portfolio
Stable manufacturing environment with no site-based construction delivery
Clear pathway into senior project delivery or operations leadership
Well-regarded business with a strong national reputation in the switchboard market
Collaborative engineering team in a structured but hands-on environment
