Technical Project Manager – Fleet Innovation & Technology
Rooty Hill, NSW | 6-Month Contract | Local Government

Working Hours: 35 hours per week
Schedule: Monday to Friday (standard hours, occasional after-hours as required)

A local Council is seeking an experienced Technical Project Manager to lead the delivery of innovative fleet, plant, and energy projects. This is a unique opportunity to work at the forefront of fleet modernization, electric vehicle (EV) adoption, and smart infrastructure within a large and progressive council.

About the Role

Reporting to the Manager City Fleet, you will drive the planning, procurement, and delivery of complex projects focused on improving safety, compliance, sustainability, and operational efficiency across Council’s fleet assets.

You will play a key role in advancing initiatives such as:
  • Fleet replacement programs (refuse and civil plant)
  • EV and hydrogen vehicle trials
  • Charging infrastructure and energy management solutions
  • Telematics, IoT, and data analytics integration
  • Workshop digitisation and system improvements
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead end-to-end project delivery, including business cases, scheduling, budgeting, and risk management
  • Develop technical specifications for heavy vehicles, plant, and emerging technologies
  • Ensure compliance with HVNL and NHVR Chain of Responsibility requirements
  • Deliver sustainability initiatives, including zero-emission fleet transition strategies
  • Manage procurement processes in line with NSW Local Government guidelines
  • Oversee supplier performance and contract delivery
  • Implement telematics solutions and performance dashboards
  • Engage and collaborate with internal stakeholders and external partners
  • Prepare reports, presentations, and executive briefings
About You

You are a results-driven Project Manager with strong technical expertise and a passion for innovation in transport, fleet, or infrastructure environments.

You will bring:
  • A degree in Engineering, Project Management, or equivalent experience
  • Proven experience delivering complex fleet, infrastructure, or engineering projects
  • Strong knowledge of heavy vehicle compliance (HVNL/NHVR) and safety standards
  • Experience in procurement and contract management within regulated environments
  • Solid understanding of asset management and lifecycle costing
  • Experience with data, telematics, or digital systems integration
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • A current Class C driver’s licence
Highly Regarded
  • Experience with EV or hydrogen vehicle programs
  • Knowledge of charging infrastructure and energy systems
  • PRINCE2 or PMP certification
  • Exposure to local government or public sector environments
